viscom: taxonomy proposal

i plan on designing a wire-o book for my taxonomy of marks. i want it to be roughly 6x5" on a white background. i plan on first separating my marks by which line their object was taken. i will then divide these three sections with other characteristics, both denotative and connotative. i want my book to have a gradient look so i plan on using the denotative characteristics of light and dark to do that. i also want to divide my marks by their feeling of moisture or movement. the way some of my marks seem to bleed or move would be an interesting way to categorize them.

  1. Currently you have listed 3 categories: value (light dark), motion, and medium (moisture). Organize all of your marks into these categories - not just one. So one mark might be rated early in category one, but later in category two - that comparison becomes intriguing.

Since the visual structure is based on a linear gradient (and three at that) consider a different format that would more appropriate display long progressions.

You have not listed the connotation labeling you plan to incorporate.
